MOSCOW, November 11 (Itar-Tass) — A draft agreement between Russia and Japan on easier visa procedures for citizens of the two countries is at the final stage, Russia’s Foreign Ministry reported on Friday following a meeting of the ministry’s consular department with leaders of Japan’s business club in Russia.
The meeting featured representatives of Russia’s migration service, Japan’s embassy and the third department of Asia of Russia’s foreign ministry.
“We had a productive discussion on various aspects of entering and staying in the territory of the RF of Japan’s businessmen,” the ministry said. “The Japanese side stated with satisfaction that visa and migration policies of Russia favours better conditions for mutually advantageous cooperation of the two countries, including work of Japanese enterprises in the Russian market.”
The foreign ministry stressed that “new opportunities for intensification of variable connections will be provided by the draft agreement between governments of the two countries on easier visa procedures for citizens of Russia and Japan.” The document is at its final stage now.
“Representatives of Russia’s Migration Service gave detailed answers to the questions from Japanese businesses regarding migration registration and work permits for foreigners,” the foreign ministry said. “Thus, the Japanese side expressed interest in having an agreement between the two countries on temporary labour migration.”
“The meeting was very useful as far as explanations for the foreign business community,” the source said. “From the practical point of view, it gave to the partners explanations regarding federal visa and migration policies.”
