Iran does not ruin reset with Russia – White House

Asked whether the Russian negative reaction means the reset policy is dead Carney replied: “No, not at all”

WASHINGTON, November 11 (Itar-Tass) —— The White House said on Thursday the Russian negative attitude to the IAEA report on Iran will not undermine the reset policy.

White House spokesman Jay Carney told a briefing “we share a strategic goal with Russia” in relation to the Iranian nuclear program.

Asked whether the Russian negative reaction means the reset policy is dead Carney replied: “No, not at all.”

“All of us stand firm together in our belief that an Iran armed with nuclear weapons is an intolerable threat to regional and international security, and we remain determined to prevent that outcome. Our efforts with Russia have produced a situation… where (the regime in) Iran is now suffering from the most stringent set of sanctions that it has ever faced,” Carney said.

“So we will continue to work with the Russians and others on this process, and we will continue to isolate and pressure Iran to change its behavior,” he added.
