NALCHIK, November 10 (Itar-Tass) —— Elbrus region’s Cheget and Azau fields, as well as hotels and hostels will have security awareness video systems. Additional surveiilance cameras will be installed along the Baksan Gorge at the parts of the federal highway.
The decision was made following a meeting, which was organised after lifting of the counter-terror operation regime in the region and following lifting of limits for numbers of tourists arriving in the Elbrus region.
“Quite soon, a police station will start working in Terskol settlement, and in Elbrus village,” Deputy Interior Minister of the republic Kanshoubi Zalikhanov said. He recommended to tourism businesses to organise a dispatcher service and to bring tourists in organised groups.
Deputy head of the Elbrus national park Zalim Dzhappuyev said that all private hotels will be guarded by private security organisations, which will cooperate with law enforcement authorities.
Head of Elbrus region’s administration Aslan Malkarov said that by November 20, the region will reconstruct fully the ski lift in Azau, which had been destroyed by an explosion.
“The region’s other ski lifts are in order and ready for the ski season,” he said.
Malkarov said that all medical and rescue teams are formed and have everything they need.
“It is necessary to organize rescue services at Elbrus settlement to involve rescuers working at ski lifts, and to provide round-the-clock security,” Malkarov said.
Head of Sarmat privately-owned security company Boris Melyanov suggested organising emergency groups to control the upper part of Elbrus region from Azau field to Baidayevo settlement, and in villages of Tegenekli, Elbrus and in Adyl-Suu Gorge.
