MOSCOW, November 9 (Itar-Tass) —— The youth team of the football club Terek has got a “technical defeat” in last Friday’s match against Krasnodar in the 30th round of the regular championship. The decision was made at a meeting of the control and disciplinary commission of the Russian Football Union, CDC chief Vladimir Katkov said on Wednesday.
The Terek-Krasnodar match, played at a stadium of Chechnya’s capital Grozny, was interrupted toward the end of the second half due to a mass fight on the pitch and on the sidelines. In the 73rd minute of the match chief referee Alexei Amelin halted play, and then inspector Alexei Rumyantsev made a decision there was no chance of a resumption.
Terek blamed the incident on the guest team’s striker, Spartak Gogniyev, who had scored twice in the match. Gogniyev was dismissed from the pitch in the 68th minute. After being shown a yellow card the player insulted the referee, pushed him in the chest, and then on the way to the locker room insulted Terek’s fans, thereby triggering a brawl.
Krasnodar earlier said that the fight occurred through the fault of some fans, who had rushed onto the pitch.
“When the score was 3:0 in the guest team’s favor, the match had to be halted. Fans and security personnel rushed onto the pitch to beat up Gogniyev and other players and coaches of Krasnodar,” the soccer club said in a statement.
