MOSCOW, November 9 (Itar-Tass) — Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will hold yet another meeting with his suppoerters on Wednesday, presidential presss secretary Natalia Timakova has told journalists. She said that this time "Among those present will be active Internetusers or persons who have cyberspace projects of their own".
Medvedev is well-known for his enthusiasm for the Internet. By using the Internet, the Head of State learns news, monitors people's problems, and actively engages in making entries in his blog. The President does not limit himself to the Kremlin official website. He also has his own videochannnel on the YouTube resource; he keeps his LiveJournal diary and writes in Twitter and Facebook. During the current election campaign, the President only increases his presence in electronic social networks.
As an active user, the Head of State became the first among world leaders to begin to speak of the pressing need for changes in approaches to the Internet. He was the first president to have available iPad at the G-8 summit in Doville in summer and atthe G-20 summmit in Cannes last week, which his counterparts were quick to take note of.
Neither did Medvedev limit himself to demonstrating the possibilities of scientific and technological achievements but also told the Heads of State and Government about the need to take a novel approach to Internet copyright.
'It is impossible to protect only the rights of rightowners or only those of Internet users. It is essential to take a new approach that would secure rightowners' incomes and users' access (to Internet products," the President pointed out. ln so doing he said, "The scope of the use of Internet products must be determined by the products' rightowners".
