MOSCOW, November 8 (Itar-Tass) —— Russia’s Interior Ministry will conduct its own probe into all circumstances of the incident at last Friday’s match between the youth teams of Krasnodar and Terek soccer clubs that triggered violence on and outside the pitch and eventually halted play, the ministry told Itar-Tass.
According to earlier reports, referee Alexei Amelin had to discontinue the match and inspector Alexei Rumyantsev a short while later ruled that its resumption was impossible. The football club Krasnodar has lodged a formal complaint with the control and disciplinary committee of the Russian Football Union over the termination of the match, the club’s official website said.
“The real circumstances of what happened at the Bilimkhanov stadium last Friday remain unclear. The top officials of the Interior Ministry have ordered a probe into the affair and an impartial assessment of action taken by the police and the management of the sports facility in compliance with the applicable legislation,” the press-center said.
The November 4 incident, irrespective of who was the culprit, is regarded by the Interior Ministry as a breach of the peace and a violation of the law, the Interior Ministry said. The results of the internal probe will be made available to the public at large without delay, the press-center said.
