Medvedev hopes for abolition of visa rules with EU

President Dmitry Medvedev has expressed the hope that Russia and Europe will fully cancel the visa rules and not only simplify them

BERLIN, November 8 (Itar-Tass) — President Dmitry Medvedev has expressed the hope that Russia and Europe will fully cancel the visa rules and not only simplify them.

“We hope that after a road map is approved Germany and other EU member-states with which we’ve been conducting talks will move towards not only easier visa rules, but also towards their full abolition, because only in this case a common European space can be created and hopes can be pinned on full-fledged partnership,” Medvedev told a news conference after the talks with his German counterpart Christian Wulff on Tuesday.

“Resolution of this issue is of key importance,” he said.

At the same time the Russian leader underlined that Russia and Germany are important trade and economic partners and easier visa rules will help to give a fresh impetus to their relations.
