Germany supports Russia’s WTO accession – Wulff

Germany supports Russia’s accession to the World Trade Organization

BERLIN, November 8 (Itar-Tass) — Germany supports Russia’s accession to the World Trade Organization, German President Christian Wulff told a joint news conference after the talks with his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev, who began his official visit to Germany on Tuesday.

“We welcome Russia’s WTO accession. This is another positive step,” he said.

He praised the Medvedev-initiated modernization that focuses not only on the economic sector.

“Modernization cannot be restricted by the development of the economy. It should spread on the whole society and the whole country and we welcome that Mr. Medvedev takes into consideration such issues as the development of a law-governed state and legal infrastructure,” Wulff said.
