BARNAUL, November 8 (Itar-Tass) —— Barnaul airport was closed on Tuesday because of continuing heavy snow.
One of the three morning flights from Moscow to Barnaul was diverted to Kemerovo, and the other two were delayed at the Moscow airport, a source at the mayor's office told Itar-Tass.
The work to remove snow from the runways continued on Tuesday morning,
It has been snowing for 24 hours already. The precipitation was equal to ten days’ level, the Altai meteorological service said.
It will continue snowing later on Tuesday, the chief regional meteorologist said. It is expected to reach 15 days’ level.
Appropriate services in the city are working, trying to cope with the situation, but their efforts fail so far. The traffic is impeded in Barnaul, with huge jams on roads.
