KAZAN, November 8 (Itar-Tass) —— The implementation of the strategy of the state anti-drug policy for the period till 2020 will be discussed in Kazan on Tuesday.
The chief of the State Antidrug Committee and the Federal Drug Control Service, Viktor Ivanov, and Tatarstan's head Rustam Minnikhanov will chair the meeting of the republic's cabinet that will discuss the republic's participation in the federal project.
Ivanov will hold a television conference after the meeting, spokeswoman for the federal antidrug service's department in Tatarstan Alina Faizullina said.
The heads of all the Russian regions and chiefs of regional drug control departments will participate in the conference.
Under discussion will be the experience of Belomorsk, Kazan, Kaluga and Lipetsk, where a reliable barrier is set up against drug spread, first of all the most dangerous -- desomorphine. The region's legislatures adopted a law regulating sales of codeine-containing medicines by a doctor's prescription only, Faizullina said.
Under consideration will be also the experience of Tatarstan's drug control service to combat drug spread.
Specialists of the service recently conducted an operation to detain a group that had delivered 13 kilogrammes of heroin from Tajikistan. A total of 23 kilogrammes of heroin, twice as much as in 2010, have been seized in the republic since the beginning of the year.
