Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin laid flowers and wreaths at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier near Red Square and the Monument to Marshal Georgy Zhukov

MOSCOW, November 7 (Itar-Tass) —— Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin laid flowers and wreaths at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier near Red Square and the Monument to Marshal Georgy Zhukov near the Historical Museum in Moscow on Monday morning in connection with the jubilee of the historic parade of 1941.

Moscow City Duma Chairman Vladimir Platonov, city government members, prefects of districts, City Duma members, veterans, activists of public organisations and youth patriotic associations participated in the ceremony.

After the flower laying, guards of honour marched before the ceremony participants.

A march marking the 70th anniversary of the 1941 Red Square military parade began on the square at 10:00 on Monday, with the participation of more than 5,500 people.
