Ukraine hopes to end talks with RF in Nov to revise gas contracts

The government has not approved a size of subventions to local budgets to make up for the difference in the gas tariffs for the population

KIEV, November 4 (Itar-Tass) —— Ukraine hopes to end the talks with Russia this November to revise the existing gas contracts, Ukrainian First Vice-Premier and Economic Development and Trade Minister Andre Klyuyev said on Friday.

"We believe the talks will end this month. We will know what price for gas in 2012 we will pay to the RF," Klyuyev said, addressing the Ukrainian parliament.

Due to the uncertainty, the government has not approved a size of subventions to local budgets to make up for the difference in the gas tariffs for the population.

Ukraine tries to convince Russia to annul the gas agreements signed by Yulia Timoshenko in January 2009, to lower the gas price, change the payment conditions and sign short-term gas contracts.
