Putin for building more perinatal centers

“On the whole, the indicators improve, so we must give thought to what should be done next,” the premier said

MOSCOW, November 3 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin suggested the continuation of the program of building perinatal centers. He said this at the government presidium meeting on Thursday. “Thought should be given to this; your proposals for this program are welcome,” he said.

Minister of Public Health and Development Tatiana Golikova believes that if the state participated in financing some projects in a number of regions, perinatal centers could be built there instead of ordinary maternity houses.

“On the whole, the indicators improve, so we must give thought to what should be done next,” the premier said.

Golikova said there were regions where no projects were started because of limitation of financial resources since 2009.

“It will be much worse if we have limitation of human resources,” Putin remarked.

Golikova noted there are some projects the government could support. “They are the Stavropol project and projects in Dagestan and in Ingushetia. They are already under construction or at the groundwork stage,” she explained. “There are plans in some regions, and given state assistance, even not large, this problem could be solved,” she said.
