MOSCOW, November 3 (Itar-Tass) — Russia’s Strategic Missile Forces (RVSN) performed a successful combat-training launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile Topol from the Plesetsk cosmodrome on Thursday.
"Today, a combat training launch of a RS-12M intercontinental ballistic missile "Topol" was performed from the Plesetsk cosdmodrome at 10:45, Moscow time," RVSN spokesman Col Vadim Koval told Itar-Tass.
"The launch was performed by joint crews of the Yoshkar-Ola RVSN formation and Space Troops.
"The purpose of the launch is to confirm the stability of the basic performance characteristics of this class of missiles in the period of the operation life extended to 24 years, and evaluate the possibility to extend the operation life to 25 years," Koval noted.
