IRKUTSK, November 1 (Itar-Tass) — International airport in the East-Siberian city of Irkutsk reopened at 09:00 hours local time Tuesday (00:00 hours GMT) after a strong snow-charged cyclone that dashed across the regions west off Lake Baikal Monday.
Also, the authorities have opened all the federal and regional automobile roads for traffic.
A spokesman for the airport said the air hub had been closed since midday Monday. Now all the delayed flights, including the flights of several airlines from Moscow, have started arriving.
Irkutsk central inter-city bus station also resumed work in the normal mode as of Tuesday morning.
Monday, snowstorms and blizzards blocked traffic on the Aleksandrovsky, Kachug and Baikal regional roads, as well as on the Irkutsk-Chita (M-55) and Irkutsk-Krasnoyarsk (M-53) federal roads.
The regional center for hydrometeorology says 70% of the averaged monthly precipitations have fallen out in the south of the Irkutsk region since Monday afternoon.
