Four explosive devices at power line rendered harmless in Dagestan

Sappers have defused four homemade explosive devices on the Gimri range in the Utsukul district of Dagestan

MAKHACHKALA, October 31 (Itar-Tass) — Sappers have defused four homemade explosive devices on the Gimri range in the Utsukul district of Dagestan. The devices were found not far from towers of the high-voltage power transmission line that supplies electric power from a hyrdopower plant to consumers in Makhachkala, a source in the Dagestani Interior Ministry told Itar-Tass.

“An explosive device went off under a power line tower on Sunday, as a result of which the tower was damaged, but the electricity supply was not disrupted.” According to the source, sappers who were dispatched to the scene found four more homemade bombs in the area that have already been rendered harmless.

The press service of the MES South power grid company reported earlier that a special work regime has been introduced in the Caspian enterprise of the company after a high-voltage tower of the 330-kV power transmission line from the Irganaiskaya hydropower plant to Makhachkala was blown up. It also stressed that “there have been no electric power supply restrictions to consumers.” A line repair crew has been dispatched to the site of the restoration efforts. All the equipment needed for the tower repair was being prepared. Three special machinery units and necessary equipment are to be sent to the incident site. “The damage assessment will be made after sappers examine the site.”
