MOSCOW, October 31 (Itar-Tass) — Russia and Belarus have approved a programme of foreign political cooperation in 2012-2013, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
After the talks with his Belarusian counterpart Sergei Martynov on Monday, Lavrov said, “The programme will be submitted to the Supreme State Council of the Russian-Belarusian Union State.”
“We signed a plan of inter-ministerial consultations in 2012. The number of consultations – 24 – proves the intensive nature of contacts between our ministries and between its leaders, deputies and departments,” Lavrov said.
“We also discussed cooperation in the energy sector and in the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes,” the Russian minister added.
He stressed that the parties were satisfied with the results of the meeting.
