MOSCOW, October 31 (Itar-Tass) — The Russian language is a unique instrument of the international and inter-civilizational dialogue, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in his welcoming address to the participants in and guests of the International Congress of Russian broadcasters.

"I warmly welcome the participants in and guests of the Congress,” the minister said. “The Russian language is a unique instrument of the international and inter-civilizational dialogue and an effective factor in promoting mutual understanding and cooperation in today's world.'s Efforts to consolidate the Russian-speaking space, made with the assistance of the media community, deserve profound respect."

"I am convinced that the Congress, buildeing up from the tradition of festivals of Russian radio stations, will be an important event for the Russians and our compatriots living abroad,” Lavrov said. “I wish you success and all the very best."

Taking part in the International Congress of Russian-language broadcasters in Moscow are more than 60 printed and electronic media, as well as television and radio stations from more than 30 countries.

The main issue on the agenda of the forum is the current position of Russian media working abroad.
