MOSCOW, October 29 (Itar-Tass) — Russia has sent the first portion of humanitarian aid to Nicaragua, the Agriculture Ministry reported on Saturday.
Humanitarian aid, including 25,600 tonnes of grain, has sent to the Port of Corinto, the Republic of Nicaragua, from Novorossiissk, Russia, the ministry said.
Totally, Russia will provide 100,000 tonnes of milling wheat to Nicaragua. “Ancient friendship, including in the agrarian sector, unites Russia and Nicaragua that is why humanitarian aid to the republic has important significance for the effective development of bilateral relations,” Agriculture Minister Yelena Skrynnik noted.
The second portion of humanitarian aid is scheduled to be sent in the first quarter of 2012.
