MOSCOW, October 28 (Itar-Tass) —— Russia’s Minister of Transport Igor Levitin says it necessary to mind the Northern Sea Route as another corridor from Europe to Asia.
“Terms of delivery to China via the Northern Sea Route make two weeks, while the traditional route via the Persian Gulf takes two months,” he told a meeting of the SCO countries’ transport ministers on Friday. “In future we should consider the Northern Sea Route as another transport corridor.”
Levitin said that Russia has been constructing five new icebreakers /one of them is nuclear/, which will be used along the Northern Sea Route for delivery of goods from Europe to Asian markets.
