MOSCOW, October 27 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov expressed support to Syria’s rapid advance along the road of political, economic and social reforms started due to the efforts of the League of Arab States, sources in the Russian Foreign Ministry said after the meeting between Sergei Lavrov and Syrian First Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Makdad in Moscow on Thursday.
“Lavrov expressed support for the positive process, started due to the efforts of the League of Arab States, of the quest for mutually acceptable, not simple decisions toward national accord and speeding up Syria’s advance along the road of political, economic and social reforms,” the ministry noted.
“Makdad posted the Russian side on the results of the visit to Damascus in October 26 of the delegation of the Special Committee of the League of Arab States,” sources in the ministry said. “According to the Syrian side, the talks with the delegation that was received by Bashar Assad had passed in a constructive spirit. Common interest was confirmed in overcoming the crisis situation in Syria without outside interference through the search of compromise,” he said.
