YEKATERINBURG, October 26 (Itar-Tass) — A car rammed a crowd of believers in Yekaterinburg on Wednesday morning as they came to venerate the Belt of the Holy Mother of God at St Trinity Cathedral. Four women, aged 46 to 70, were injured, the press service of the regional road police department told Itar-Tass.
Two of the victims were rushed to hospital, and medical assistance was provided on the spot to another two women.
The accident occurred as the owner of a Suzuki CX-4 rolled onto a curbstone when parking. She was unable to stop the car immediately and shot onto the pavement where people were queuing to enter the cathedral. "Ambulances were called to the scene; doctors said the victims had multiple bruises of the body and limbs," the press service said.
The queue was several kilometers long. More than 30,000 believers have venerated the Belt of the Holy Mother of God since it was brought to the Ural region a day ago.
Regional police spokesman Valery Gorelykh said Yekaterinburg police are watching law and order on the premises of St.Trinity Cathedral and adjacent territories.
