No problems expected in talks on gas supply to SKorea via DPRK

TOKYO, October 26 (Itar-Tass) — No problems are expected in the talks on the supply of gas to South Korea across the territory of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Alexander Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Board, who participated in a global forum on management, has told Itar-Tass. The forum was organized by Japan's leading business newspaper Nikkei.

"We have already signed two preliminary agreements with our partners from South Korea and the DPRK on the implementation of the project. The main terms, on which deliveries will be carried out, are being discussed with the South Korean side," Alexander Medvedev pointed out. The Gazprom executive said, this work is to be completed by January next. The main agreement will be signed in the middle of 2012. Gas deliveries are expected to begin in 2017.

"Work on the construction of a gas pipeline in the territory of the DPRK will be done by Gazprom in accordance with the agreement with the DPRK's Petroleum Ministry. Talks to this effect will be held parallel to a discussion of the commercial aspect of the project," Alexander Medvedev said. "No problems in the negotiating process are expected (to arise)," the Gazprom executive added,
