TOKYO, October 25 (Itar-Tass) ——The Russian side is ready to give attention to proposals of Japanese partners for participation in Sakhalin -3 new project on the basis of the principles of strategic expediency and exchange of assets, Alexander Medvedev, the deputy board chairman of Gazprom giant, said on Tuesday answering questions after his remarks at the Global Management Forum Japan’s leading business newspaper Nikkei organized in Tokyo.
“We cooperate actively with Japanese partners in the framework of Sakhalin-2 project and in the planned construction of a plant for production of liquefied natural gas in Vladivostok,” Medvedev said. “This project implemented jointly with the Japanese Itochu company is now at the stage of the feasibility study,” he noted.
Medvedev said there is awareness in Gazprom about the interest Japanese companies show in the new project Sakhalin-3. If it is decided that foreign companies should be drawn into the development, we will give attention to proposals of Japanese companies, specifically, of our partners in Sakhalin-2 project - Mitsui and Mitsubishi,” the deputy board chairman said. “The terms on which this cooperation is possible remain constant – strategic expediency and exchange of assets,” he said.
