CHISINAU, October 25 (Itar-Tass) —— Moldova opposes the opening of polling stations in the unrecognized Transdniestrian Republic to elect State Duma deputies on December 4, Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat said on Tuesday.
Chisinau agrees to open polling stations only on the territory controlled by the constitutional authorities, he said.
According to the Transdniestrian Central Elections Commission, more than 140,000 Russian citizens live in the republic. It is planned to open 25 polling stations for them.
There were 24 polling stations in Transdniestria in the previous election, and 47,731 Russian citizens cast their votes. More than 90% of them were residents of Transdniestria.
