Moscow mayor comes out for objective press

MOSCOW, October 25 (Itar-Tass) —— Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said in an interview with famous TV anchor Vladimir Posner broadcast on First Channel on Monday that in his opinion, the main task of the mass media is to be maximally objective.

"It should neither side with the authority nor be against it. If the press is against the authority it means politics already," Sobyanin said with confidence.

"The journalistic work should be objective; it should demonstrate in reality what the authority is doing, what objections and arguments they have. This work should be professional and well balanced," Sobyanin stressed.

According to his opinion, "it is better for the reader. This information should be maximally full and professional, so that he could realize what is going on in the city, in life and in the country," Sobyanin said in conclusion.
