BARNAUL, October 24 (Itar-Tass) —— An official opening of the All-Russia Congress of Rural Youth was held in Barnaul on Monday. The three-day forum brought together 700 young leaders from various regions of Russia to focus on the development of business activities in rural territories.

A part of the Altai territory’s population lives in rural areas, based on which the region hosts the congress of the kind for the third time.

While addressing the participants in the congress, Governor Alexander Karlin, who was born and raised in a small village, stated, “We consider young people first of all as promising business partners and as promoting force in the resolution of social, economic and political tasks.”

“That’s exactly youth voices now the best ideas. They create a lot of interesting innovative projects,” the governor said.

He informed the participants in the forum about business and social projects, which the region implements. “We are taking care for young families. Owing to such a support, more than 1,800 such families will improve their living conditions this year. More than 400 families will receive new homes in the format of the program aimed at the social development of villages,” Karlin said, adding that the program envisages certain privileges for the families with many children.

Not only participants in the forum, but also small innovative companies of the Altai territory will put on display their projects at the congress. The projects embrace a wide range of problems in the sphere of production and processing of agricultural products – from the creation of virus-free potato seeds to the construction of a plant for the production of ascorbic acid.

“Traditionally, youth considers village as something out of their interests and importance. We would like to overcome this stereotype and to give a chance them to negotiate with persons who think the same way,” Deputy Chairman of the Territorial Department for Youth Affairs Yelena Lebedeva told Itar-Tass.

In her words, specialists for the work with young people from an Italian province and Poland have arrived in Barnaul to attend the congress.

The All-Russia Congress of Rural Young was organised under assistance of the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Sport, Tourism and Youth Policy, and the Agriculture Ministry.
