RF ForMin suggests tourists be careful about visits to Thailand

“There nave been no incidents involving Russian tourists in connection with the floods, and Bangkok’s central Suvannapum Airport functions as usual so far”

MOSCOW, October 24 (Itar-Tass) —— The Russian Foreign Ministry suggests that Russian citizens should carefully consider the expediency of traveling to flood-ridden Thailand. “The flood-hit regions of the country, including some regions of Bangkok, continue to expand,” sources in the ministry said on Monday. However, the floods have not affected tourism centers most popular with Russian citizens – the city of Pattaya and the islands Phuket, Samui and Chang, sources in the ministry said. “There nave been no incidents involving Russian tourists in connection with the floods, and Bangkok’s central Suvannapum Airport functions as usual so far.”

Still the situation remains serious, the ministry noted. The floods may last for another four or six weeks. In this connection the Foreign Ministry recommends that Russian citizens intending to visit Thailand should “thoroughly consider the expediency of visiting the country, and Russian tourists staying in Thailand should keep from visiting flooded regions, also in the capital, and should show caution traveling in Thailand.”
