MOSCOW, October 24 (Itar-Tass) —— The stoppage of the operation of the Russian Avianova air carrier will not much affect Russia’s tourism market, Alexander Radkov, the head of Rostourism, told a news conference on Monday. He stressed particularly that “transportation problem is one of the important segments of the tourism market.” “It is necessary now to develop transportation between regions which is clearly insufficient,” he said. “In order to get from one region to another, it is often necessary to fly via Moscow, which, certainly, is a check on domestic travel,” he added.
Radkov stressed that “another matter that requires careful solution is the development of domestic budget-financed air carriers.” “The Sukhoi Superjet project began operating. We pin much hope on it,” Radkov said.
He also noted that with price rises on fuel and the growth of air tariffs more people start to travel by car. He pointed out that in the framework of the federal purpose-oriented program for the development of domestic and foreign tourism up to 2018 a number of projects envisage creating the infrastructure for tourists travelling in Russia by car.
