Traffic restored after last night’s railroad track blast in Dagestan

A criminal case was opened over the illegal use of explosives, the making of a bomb and the deliberate property damage

MAKHACHKALA, October 23 (Itar-Tass) —— Railroad traffic suspended by last night’s explosion has been restored in Dagestan, chief of the Makhachkala transport police staff Rustam Alibekov told Itar-Tass on Sunday.

“The traffic was fully restored at 10:05 a.m. Moscow time. Two freight trains were delayed,” he said.

A criminal case was opened over the illegal use of explosives, the making of a bomb and the deliberate property damage.

“Hitherto unknown persons blasted a bomb under the locomotive of a freight train on the Manas-Ali line at 7:20 p.m. Moscow time on Saturday. The locomotive and the track under it were damaged. No train cars came off the rail. No one was hurt. The train continued its voyage with a new locomotive,” he said.
