Tower crane fall in Yekaterinburg kills an 18-year-old worker, injures another

A 14-meter-tall tower crane hit the unfinished building, killing an 18-year-old worker and injuring a 25-year-old builder. The crane operator was not hurt

YEKATERINBURG, October 23 (Itar-Tass) —— A worker died and another one was injured in the fall of a tower crane in Yekaterinburg, a source at the Sverdlovsk regional emergency situations department told Itar-Tass on Sunday.

The accident happened on the Aurora residence construction site at 10:00 p.m. local time (8:00 p.m. Moscow time) on Saturday. “A 14-meter-tall tower crane hit the unfinished building, killing an 18-year-old worker and injuring a 25-year-old builder. The crane operator was not hurt,” the source said.

Reasons for the accident are unknown so far.
