Jordan, Russia discuss Middle East situation, bilateral relations

During the meeting, Abdullah II appreciated highly Russia’s position “in support of aspirations of Arab peoples”

BEIRUT, October 23 (Itar-Tass) —— King of Jordan Abdullah II and Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov discussed the situation in the Middle East and future of the Russia-Jordan relations.

Their meeting was on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum’s Special Meeting on Economic Growth and Job Creation in the Arab World, which is organised at the Dead Sea.

During the meeting, Abdullah II appreciated highly Russia’s position “in support of aspirations of Arab peoples.” He highlighted Russia’s important role in achieving of the Middle East settlement, including “in search for a fair settlement of the Palestine-Israel conflict on the basis of Israel’s evacuation and establishment of Palestine’s independent state inside the borders of 1967.”

The king of Jordan expressed interest in further development of partnership with Russia, highlighting the “deep character of the friendly bilateral ties.”

The forum in Jordan is devoted to economic and social consequences of the revolutionary processes in the Arab world.
