MOSCOW, October 21 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin urged the United Russia Party “to live up to” the expectations of people, communicate more with people and to engage in real deeds.
“I would like all of us to communicate more with ordinary people during this responsible period of time [before the elections], not to be afraid of criticism from citizens, not to shield from it and to take constructive decisions,” the president said at a videoconference with the United Russia regional election staffs. Meanwhile, Medvedev, who heads the United Russia federal election list at the December elections to the State Duma, urged members of the ruling party “to give a proper response to idlers and criticasters, who do nothing themselves, but are seeking to be cute on any issue.” “United Russia should be a party of real deeds, and United Russia acted this way in the recent years,” the president noted.
Putin elaborated that he and Medvedev had the videoconference on Friday together “to make the colleagues in the regions do an active and constructive work.”
The prime minister appealed to his supporters and members of the United Russia Party “to inform the voters with proper arguments, decently and consistently on what had been done in the last few years and had been done well.” “We [United Russia] have something to present to the country,” he said with confidence.
Putin recommended the party members “never to come off your perch, always bear in mind that we could have done some things better.” Putin believes that his party partisans “should live up to the expectations of people, take care of expectations and put them on the practical agenda.” We will do all at the federal level to achieve the best possible result,” he pledged.
