MOSCOW, October 21 (Itar-Tass) —— There is no danger for Russian tourists in Greece in connection with actions of protest in Athens.
The resorts are not affected by meetings, a source at the Russian Association of Tour Operators said on Friday.
According to the Mouzenidis Travel company's Director-General Alexander Tsandekidi, demonstrations take place in Athens on the square near the Greek parliament.
To avoid incidents, all the excursion programmes have been corrected, he said, adding that there were no tourists in the area at the time.
There are no tourists either in Acropolis closed because of a strike of Culture Ministry employees. However, tourists visit Plaka near Acropolis. They have no problems there.
There have been no requests to cancel tours or return home earlier. In case of such requests, the Russian tourists will be returned to the native land on the next flight, the director-general assured.
Protest demonstrations took place in the Greek capital, not affecting the rest of the country.
The chartered flight service to Rhodes and Crete will be halted next week, Zeus Travel company spokeswoman Anna Glybina said. It is calm there now. Nothing disturbs the tourists, she added.
Actions of protest continue in Greece. Air traffic controllers were on a strike in recent days for 12 hours, but not 24 hours as they had threatened. However, the Russian airlines Aeroflot and Transaero cancelled flights from Moscow to Greece.
According to the federal Rostourism agency, almost 387,000 Russian tourists visited the country last year, and 282,000 in 2009.
