ULAN-UDE, October 21 (Itar-Tass) —— Russia’s Buryatia lifted on Friday the emergency regimen which was announced on October 7 due to the autumn wave of wildfires.
Head of the republic Vyacheslav Nagovitsyn signed an order about abolishment of the emergency regimen.
“All wildfires in taiga are extinguished,” his press service told Itar-Tass on Friday.
The republic’s forestry reports about over 1,400 wildfires over the autumn season, where they damaged or wiped out over 77,000 hectares of taiga.
This autumn’s wave of wildfires was bigger than usually due to high temperatures /summer temperatures remained there throughout three weeks of October/. Since early September, the republic registered 258 wildfires, which occupies an area of almost 6,000 hectares.
