Probe into Yak-42 crash near Yaroslavl not over yet – Rosaviatsiya chief

The investigation of the Yak-42 plane’s crash near Yaroslavl is not over yet, the chief of the federal air transport agency Rosaviatsiya, Alexander Neradko

MOSCOW, October 20 (Itar-Tass) —— The investigation of the Yak-42 plane’s crash near Yaroslavl is not over yet, the chief of the federal air transport agency Rosaviatsiya, Alexander Neradko, told the media after a flight safety conference on Thursday.

“The probe into the disaster is not over yet,” he said.

About media rumors one of the pilots stepped on the brake pedal during takeoff Neradko said, “The things that have got into the media may be changed, and the conclusions may be different.”

Deputy Transport Minister Valery Okulov said about the pressed accelerator pedal version “if that was really so, then obviously it is faulty design to blame.”

“There should never develop a situation in which the pilot in the cockpit might have a chance of stepping on the brake pedal during takeoff,” Okulov said, adding that there had never been such incidents in the history of Russian aviation before.
