Georgian wine producers have appealed to the Russian Consumer Rights Watchdog, suggesting to supply Georgian wine to Russia with guarantees of a high quality of the wine

MOSCOW, October 20 (Itar-Tass) — Georgian wine producers have appealed to the Russian Consumer Rights Watchdog (Rospotrebnadzor), suggesting to supply Georgian wine to Russia with guarantees of a high quality of the wine, the Rospotrebnadzor press service told Itar-Tass.

On October 19 a delegation of Georgian wine producers met Russian partners at Rospotrebnadzor office on the initiative of the Georgian side. During the meeting Rospotrebnadzor representatives were handed over applications from a number of Georgian wine producers who declared they were ready to ensure deliveries of high quality wine to the Russian market. The two sides discussed measures the Georgian companies were taking to ensure safety and high quality of the wine and outlined a plan of further cooperation.

Rospotrebdzor reaffirmed conditions which will enable the Georgian business community to meet Russia' s requirements and the requirements of the Customs Union to the quality of the wine, including expert consultations, inspection visits and respective documentary and laboratory control.
