MOSCOW, October 20 (Itar-Tass) — The Su-24 frontline bomber has crashed in the Amur region, the crew has been killed, spokesman for the Russian Air Force Colonel Vladimir Drik told Itar-Tass on Thursday.

“During landing at Ukrainka airfield in the Amur region at 06:02, Moscow time, the Su-24 caught fire and overturned. The crew - two pilots – was killed,” he said.

“The plane was performing a planned flight from Voronezh to the Vozdvizhenka Aircraft Repair Plan,” the Air Force spokesman said. “The causes and circumstances of the accident are being ascertained,” he said.

The Port-Amur news agency reports with reference to an informed source that the Su-24 skidded off the runway, after which overturned and caught fire. According to one version, the plane hit the runway with its tail, which caused the inflammation, and according to another – the bomber started to burn in the air.
