MOSCOW, October 19 (Itar-Tass) — Russia’s flag carrier Aeroflot will resume flight to Mexico’s Cancun on October 31.
Regular flight to the Mexican resort will be carried out by an Airbus A330-200 from the Sheremetyevo International Airport, Terminal D, once in ten days.
Aeroflot suspended flights to Cancun, one of the world’s top ten resorts, at the end of 1990s, mainly for economic reasons.
According to the air carrier, 15,000 Russian citizens visited Mexico in 2009 and around 40,000 in 2010.
“The opening of regular flights from Moscow to Cancun makes this resort more accessible for Russian citizens,” the company said in its statement.
Aeroflot is the country’s largest air carrier, where 51 percent stake is state-controlled.
