ROSTOV-ON-DON, October 19 (Itar-Tass) — The North Caucasus District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don on Wednesday is expected to deliver a sentence in an espionage case.
According to investigators, the defendant - senior lieutenant of one of the military units of the Southern Military District David Aliyev gathered military information, including constituting a state secret, and through his mother Irina Aliyev passed it to Georgian secret services.
The criminal case against the suspects was opened under Article 275 of the RF Criminal Code (“high treason in the form of espionage”). According to an official of the investigation unit of the Federal Security Service (FSB) department for the Southern Military District, during the investigation the detainees confessed that they were recruited by Georgian secret services and agreed to perform their tasks for a reward.
