YEKATERINBURG, October 16 (Itar-Tass) — Five people got first and second degree burns as a result of the rupture of a hot water pipeline in Yekaterinburg, Russia’s Urals. All of them were hospitalized, the Sverdlovsk region emergencies department told Itar-Tass on Sunday.

At 00:15 Moscow time the emergencies department received a message on the rupture of a 1 meter diameter hot water pipeline. Hot water began to flood adjacent areas and the nightclub Gold located in the low land. People jumped on cars’ roofs to save themselves from getting burns.

Rescuers evacuated 450 people from the nightclub.

“Measures are taken to tow motor vehicles blocking the nightclub’s entry. Psychologists of the Urals office of the Emergencies Ministry’s psychological assistance centre provide necessary counseling services, 41 rescuers and 10 machinery units are engaged in the accident’s liquidation,” the source said.

Hot water and heating supplies to adjacent apartment buildings were not cut off.
