MOSCOW, October 13 (Itar-Tass) — Russia’s Federal Tourism Agency is checking information about Russian nationals vacationing on the Indonesian island of Bali hit by a magnitude 6.0 earthquake early on Thursday, spokesman for the agency Oleg Moiseyev told Itar-Tass.
“We are verifying all information, exact fact will be available a bit later when official data are reported,” he said.
In the mean time, Russian travel companies said so far no one has cancelled his or her reservations although the situation may change any time. According to Russian travel companies, Russians are showing ever growing interest in vacationing on Bali, which offers beach and eco tourism services.
According to media reports, as many as 42 persons were hurt in the Bali quake.
Eyewitnesses say the walls of many buildings have developed cracks, some are lacking roofs. The focus of the earthquake was located 100 kilometers south of Denpasar at a depth of 61 kilometers.
