MOSCOW, October 12 (Itar-Tass) — Three kindergartens have been already closed in Russia because of a seasonal outbreak of the acute respiratory viral infection, the head of the Rospotrebnadzor consumer rights watchdog, Gennady Onishchenko, told reporters on Wednesday.

“Three kindergartens have been closed – two in Khakassia and one in the Kamchatka Territory,” he said. According to Onishchenko, at the present time morbidity is below the epidemic threshold.

The Rospotrebnadzor head said the agency daily monitors the situation with the vaccination of adults and children against flu. He said the situation is unsatisfactory in Buryatia, in the Volgograd Region and Krasnodar Territory as well as in Khanty-Mansiisk, where “the pace of vaccination is low”. This refers to the vaccination of adults.

As for Moscow, Chelyabinsk, Kemerovo, the Krasnoyarsk and Khabarovsk Territories – the vaccination of children goes slowly. Onishchenko once again confirmed the forecasts of the World Health Organisation as to the upcoming epidemic season. “I believe the pace (of the epidemic) will be low,” he said.
