MOSCOW, October 12 (Itar-Tass) — Russia’s Rosaviatsiya Federal Air Transport Agency has suspended the certificate of the low cost Avianova airline for three months, Rosaviatsiya head’s advisor Sergei Izvolsky said on Wednesday.
He stressed that suspension does not mean invalidation. “If all drawbacks revealed during checks are removed, the certificate can be restored and the carrier will be able to resume flights,” Izvolsky added.
The company suspended operations on October 10 “in connection with the worsening of financial-economic situation”. Avianova is a low cost airline based in Moscow. From its hub at Sheremetyevo International Airport it served a number of destinations within Russia as well as an international destination within Ukraine.
Avianova LLC was founded in 2007, it belongs to the Luch limited liability company. Its shareholders are the Russian investment company A1 (51 percent) and the US fund Indigo Partners (49 percent).
