MOSCOW, October 11 (Itar-Tass) — The Investigative Committee (SK) opened a criminal case over the death of a Moscow school director accused of attempted bribe.
"Criminal proceedings were opened under Article 109, Part 2 of Russia's Criminal Code ("causing negligent death as a result of improper performance of one's duties"), SK spokesman Vladimir Markin told Itar-Tass.
The case will be investigated by the SK's main office, Markin added.
Andrei Kudoyarov, 48, director of Moscow school №1308, who has been kept in a remand prison since May on attempted bribe-taking charges, died of heart attack on October 8.
Kudoyarov denied his guilt. The case was to have been referred to a court shortly. Earlier, a number of schoolchildren's parents came out in his support.
Kudoyarov reportedly attempted to take a 240,000-rouble bribe for enrolling a 1st-form pupil.
