Students hospitalised with enteric infection in Sverdlovsk reg released from hospital

YEKATERINBURG, October 10 (Itar-Tass) —— All students and personnel of a vocational school in Russia’s Sverdlovsk region who were hospitalised last week over an enteric infection outbreak have been released from hospital, a spokesman for the local administration of the Russian consumer rights protection authority (Rospotrebnadzor) told Itar-Tass on Monday.

“In all, thirty three enteric infection cases were registered in the Verkhnyaya Pyshma vocational school. Thirty two students and one personnel member were hospitalised. Now all of them are in satisfactory condition and have been discharged from hospital,” the spokesman said.

The local Rospotrebnadzor administration continues its investigation. The school’s food unit has been closed since October 7. Classes at the vocational school were suspended till October 17.

Eight children sought medical help overnight from October 4 to October 5. They had symptoms of enteric infection. By morning, the number of patients increased to 17. In all, 31 students were hospitalized.

A criminal case was opened on charges of offering services harmful for the live and health of people.
