Number of kids with food poisoning soars in Urals

A total of 51 people, including 48 children, were hospitalized

YEKATERINBURG, October 7 (Itar-Tass) — The number of children with food poisoning in the Sverdlovsk region increased to 77, the region’s emergencies ministry told Itar-Tass on Friday.

Moreover, three adults were also hospitalized with similar symptoms. A total of 51 people, including 48 children, were hospitalized.

Most children remain in a medium grave condition, and another two – in a grave condition staying in an intensive care ward.

According to the local investigative department, the preliminary version of mass poisoning is low-quality products.

The region’s health ministry names salmonellosis as a preliminary diagnosis.

The incident took place in a kindergarten in the village of Tsementny, the Nevyansk district, on Thursday.

The investigation is underway.
