Russia is open country, happy to see foreigners in economy - Medvedev

Medvedev underlined that "far from all European countries allow foreign investors into their mass media"

MOSCOW, October 6 (Itar-Tass) — President Dmitry Medvedev said Russia remains an open country, happy to see foreign companies participating in various branches of the domestic economy, including in the mass media.

Medvedev made the statement at a meeting with Russian and foreign shareholders of National Media Group on Thursday.

"We're open people, hence we have this position with respect to the mass media (the opportunity for foreign investors' participation). We think it's not a bad thing," the head of state said.

Medvedev underlined that "far from all European countries allow foreign investors into their mass media."

The Russian mass media are an example of successful cooperation between Russian and foreign companies in fine spheres. "Such interaction enables us to resolve investment tasks and other tasks, given the fact that we live in a globalized world," the head of state said.

Medvedev acknowledged that the Thursday meeting was interesting and that he intended to discuss the prospects for developing this branch and modern technologies.
