MOSCOW, October 4 (Itar-Tass) —— The Russia-ASEAN Dialog celebrates its 15th anniversary, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on Tuesday.
“A reception was given at the Russian Foreign Ministry’s residence on behalf of Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to mark the 15th anniversary of the partnership between Russia and the ASEAN. Ambassadors of South East Asian states – members of the ASEAN Moscow Committee and representatives of Russian ministries and departments, business and academic communities actively promoting cooperation with the Association in various spheres attended the reception,” the ministry said.
“Sergei Lavrov welcomed the development of the Russian-ASEAN Dialog, which had reached a high level. The importance of the fulfillment of the agreements of the second Russia-ASEAN summit in Hanoi in October 2010 was stressed to upgrade the efficiency of interaction on priority tracks – trade, economics, traditional and renewable energy resources, response to emergency situations, science and technologies,” the ministry said.
“The importance of the Association as a Russian partner in the formation of an open and equal security and cooperation architecture in the Asia Pacific region was accentuated,” the ministry said.
“ASEAN Moscow Committee Chair, Malaysian Ambassador Zainol Abidin Omar confirmed the readiness of the ASEAN ten to promote further deepening and sustainable development of the comprehensive partnership with Russia in the interest of stability and prosperity of the Asia Pacific region,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
