MOSCOW, October 4 (Itar-Tass) —— The wildfire situation in the Bratsk district of Russia’s Siberian Irkutsk Region is normalizing, Russian First Deputy Emergencies Minister Ruslan Tsalikov told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.
“It is too early to say that the situation has been completely solved. But the situation has been reversed,” he said.
According to the deputy minister, the situation in the city of Bratsk is calm. “There are no polluting emissions. The focus of fires has shifted far from the city centre,” he noted.
A key cause of fires in Bratsk, according to Tsalikov, is arsons. “We may also speak about negligence demonstrated by those, who were to take measures (to organize fire fighting operations),” he added.
According to latest reports, there are eight fires on an overall area of 1,500 hectares in the Bratsk district.
